Lack of Representation

Every time I see this chart, I’m disturbed by what it implies – that our representatives are not representative of who we are, as a whole.

How does your organization compare?

In business, this lack of representation often translates to leadership and whether we represent our workforce and our customers.  If your company’s leadership doesn’t represent your workforce (and your workforce doesn’t represent your customers and your community), give some thought as to why that is.  Do you intentionally not want to hear the voices of certain groups of people?  What are you missing out on?

And, if you want to remedy that representation “gap”, what can you do to take the first step?  How will you keep moving forward even as progress is made?
