Race Isn’t Real, But Racism Is

In my graduate studies, I have learned there is more variation within what we call a “race” than there is between “races”.  It’s a social construct, mainly created by Americans (!) to justify bad behavior towards others.

We need to recognize how ridiculous (and yet infused within us) our biases are – and then we need to work to overcome it.  While we all do it, it’s still wrong!  We can be – and do – so much better.

What are some of the steps you can take in your workplace (and life?) to recognize your bias, to counteract that bias, to help others in overcoming their own (often unseen and even unknown) biases?  How can we support each other on our journeys to be better people?
