Get Up and Move!

At a conference today, an academic study was presented on sitting (particularly sitting a lot, as often happens at work).  As we all know – from our own experiences if nothing else – sitting for long periods can negatively affect both physical and mental health.

The results of the presented study indicate we should try to sit no more than five hours a day.  Fewer hours is better!  If not possible, take a two-minute break at least every 30 minutes.

What are you doing to encourage your employees to stand up and get moving?  Do you provide incentives for joining (and going to) a gym?  Do you provide stand-up desks or role model movement breaks?  Can you offer activities on site that appeal to a wide variety of workers?  How can you better embrace and encourage a healthy lifestyle?
