Links to Research

I’m a member of the International Humanistic Management Association (IHMA).  They are an amazing organization that links researchers, scholars, and practitioners in order to improve management practices – both through business school education and through promoting research-based approaches in the workplace.

Below, I have attached a link to their business statement and guiding principles.  (Page 1 is particularly salient.) If you’ve liked what you read on this blog, you might want to check them out.  They also have a wonderful Lunch & Learn program each month with researchers and practitioners from around the world presenting on topics like promoting dignity within the workplace, business’s role in environmental sustainability, and the importance of professional development (and what that can look like).  Speakers share their work for around 30 minutes and then open for questions and answers.  There are also networking opportunities to learn more or to collaborate with others.

Other organizations I have learned from that you might want to explore:

·      https://www.siop.org – Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology

Check out their White Papers online, especially those in conjunction with SHRM.

I have attended and enjoyed their conferences.

·      https://shrm.org – Society of Human Resource Managers

There’s a ton of great information under Resources.

I haven’t found their education offerings to be particularly compelling, and they seem quite focused on getting visitors to complete their (expensive) certifications programs.

·      https://aom.org – Academy of Management

While I’ve found their research to be useful, the conference I attended was very much geared towards academics.  There was a lot of sitting through presentations of papers to get one or two nuggets to put into practice.

·      https://academycultureambassadors.com – Academy of Culture Ambassadors

I stumbled onto a mailing list for this group and found a small but energized group of like-minded businesspeople.  They have an annual retreat that shares the newest trends in managing a positive corporate culture, and they believe strongly in sharing the good they do.

In recent years, I have found them slipping off my radar, as the founder has focused more on transparency than on what I think are more proactive and impactful ways to improve employee relations with management.
