What’s Good for Them IS Good for You
“When we are treated well in our organizations, as if we matter, we flourish. When we are treated poorly in our organizations, as if we don’t matter, we suffer.”
My response to this statement is, “Duh.”
But perhaps the reason it needs to be said is that employers often don’t treat their people well. And that affects employee performance. When we aren’t treated well, we don’t give it our all. We “Quit and Stay”, where we remain employed (and paid) but don’t put in as much effort. We become disengaged, and our productivity decreases.
When you treat your employees well, it’s good for business. Satisfied employees are more productive. They stay in your employ longer. They are more loyal – and more likely to share ideas for improvement or for new markets/products. They’re also more pleasant to be around!
What can you do to treat your employees well? How can you let them know you’re doing that – and want to do even better?
